Ketan Shah, M.D.

A dedicated and energetic physician, Dr. Shah is a board certified otolaryngologist and sleep specialist who enjoys caring for patients of all ages. Dr. Shah’s clinical interests include treatment of allergic and sinus disease, pediatric disorders, skin malignancies, hearing loss, ear infections, and various sleep disorders.

Dr. Shah received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). Upon completion of his medical degree, Dr. Shah stayed at UMDNJ and completed his internship and residency. He earned his board certification in April of 2000 and has been in practice since that point.

In 2007, Dr. Shah further advanced his education and become one of the first American Board of Medical Specialties certified sleep specialist within the field of otolaryngology. Throughout his career he has maintained an active role in the advancement and promotion of the specialty by participating in various teaching and research opportunities.

Dr. Shah is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, American Board of Otolaryngology, and American Academy of Sleep Medicine. His current affiliations include Memorial Hospital, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Monroe County Surgical Center, and Bel-Clair Surgical Center.

 

 
 

Mark Szewczyk, M.D.

Dr. Szewczyk was born and raised in Belleville, Illinois and is thrilled to practice in Southern Illinois. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated with high honors and was elected into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He then completed medical school at Northwestern University, being elected into the Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society. Outstanding clinical training was then obtained through a general surgery internship and otolaryngologist residency at Kansas University Medical Center. He obtained board certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology and has since used his education, training and valuable clinical experience practicing general otolaryngology since 1998.

Dr. Szewczyk takes great pride in using the knowledge gained through education, training, experience and the most up to date literature and techniques to collaborate with patients in determining the best course of action in their care. He feels a great responsibility to educate patients so that they can make the best informed decision possible for individualized treatment. He provides superior medical care and state of the art surgical techniques when necessary.

While always providing a complete general otolaryngology practice for patients of all ages, Dr. Szewczyk has particular clinical interests in helping pediatric otolaryngology problems, sinus and allergy disease and surgical management of snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea. His current affiliations include Memorial Hospital, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and Monroe County Surgical Center. He maintains office hours in both the Shiloh and Waterloo clinics.


 
  Nick Debnath, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Nick Debnath earned his bachelor's degree with honors in biochemistry from Harvard University and his medical degree from the University of Tennessee. He completed his surgical internship and otolaryngology residency at Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis. He has spent three additional years engaging in two research fellowships--immunology at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and neurophysiology at Washington University School of Medicine. He then completed an advanced fellowship in Rhinology, Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, and Allergy at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Debnath is currently the only fellowship trained sinus specialist in Southern Illinois.

Dr. Debnath’s clinical interests include chronic sinus disease, ENT allergy, pediatric disorders, ear and hearing conditions, and voice disorders. As a nose and sinus specialist, Dr. Debnath manages adult and pediatric patients requiring comprehensive treatment of allergic and non-allergic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis, allergic fungal sinusitis, nasal and sinus polyp disease, nasal obstruction, and nasal septum deviation.

Dr. Debnath is board certified in otolaryngology, and he is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Rhinologic Society and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. Dr. Debnath has also been involved in research, and he has had numerous articles published in peer-reviewed journals. An experienced teacher, he has lectured at local and national meetings, and he has previously served as an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at Washington University in St. Louis where he co-founded the Washington University Sinus Institute.

Dr. Debnath currently is affiliated with Memorial Hospital, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Monroe County Surgical Center, and Bel-Clair Surgical Center. In his free time, he enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with his wife and three children.
